The Power of Presence – A Key to Inner Peace

Living in the here and now – sounds simple, but it’s a daily practice.

In a world that never stops, where we’re constantly reachable, rushing from one thing to the next, there is one of the most precious gifts we can give ourselves: presence. Being truly present – in body, mind, and moment – is not automatic. It means giving full attention to what is happening right now. Without judgment. Without distraction.

But why is it so hard?

Because our minds are used to wandering. Because we’ve been conditioned to value performance and planning over simply being. And because inner peace doesn’t just happen – it’s a state we need to cultivate through conscious practice.

Just today I had a conversation with a client about how things like making decisions from the heart or listening to your heart need to be trained – because over time, we’ve unlearned it. It’s like a muscle we haven’t used in a while. And presence works the same way. It needs to be practiced consciously, again and again, until it becomes part of our natural way of being.

When I first came into contact with Reiki and Yoga, it was like entering a different world. Suddenly, it wasn’t about doing or thinking – it was about feeling and noticing. Reiki helped me arrive in the moment again. There is nothing to do during a session – only to feel. And for someone so used to being in the head, that was quite a challenge.

Even during my yoga teacher training, I realized how hard it was for me to simply be. But that’s where I learned: the magic is not in the perfect pose – it’s in the breath between the movements, in the silence after the exhale, in the awareness of your own body.

Presence is a skill. It can be trained – through conscious breathing, meditation, mindful listening. Even small daily actions can become moments of mindfulness – like brushing your teeth without thinking about your to-do list or checking your phone. An exersice: Brushing your teeth with all your senses. What do I see? What do I smell? What do I taste? What do I feel?

Today, I love holding space for presence – whether in Reiki sessions, yoga classes, or coaching. Because from stillness comes not only peace, but clarity, strength, and connection with your true self.

Are you ready to arrive in this moment?
